Pegboard Storage Ideas: Organizing Kids’ Toys & Art Supplies

Why a Pegboard is the Perfect Storage Solution for Kids?

When our toddler started doing more crafts and coloring, we decided we wanted a way for him to see what was available to do, something that could be changed and adjusted depending on what he was interested in, and something that did not take up more floor space. Pegboards had helped us before and we knew they could again. Putting our toddler’s supplies on the pegboard made clean-up easy, helped him visualize what was available to him, and made it simple to swap his new interests in and out.

Saves Floor Space While Keeping Everything Access

Having a dedicated space to mount our toddler’s tablet keeps it from getting lost and being misused when he utilizes his tablet for directed drawing and other instructional art videos. We love that the tablet holder is easy to mount on the pegboard as it allows for quick hanging and removal of the tablet, and is easily interchangeable between device sizes. With a simple adjustment of the bottom hooks, it can go from holding a tablet to holding your old phone that you use as a makeshift sound machine.

Independence and Easy Cleanup

Sometimes, we get tired of hearing the same songs over and over again, or we just need to make sure we know where the headphones are when we are packing for a trip to see family. The headphone holders on the pegboard make sure the electronics stay together and visible so we don’t have to search every nook and cranny while trying to ask our Toddler where he left them last. It definitely helps teach our toddler that everything has a place, so that when he is done with his tablet time or listening to something, he can just put it back and maybe get ready for some arts and crafts.

A Home for Markers, Crayons, Paints, and More

We use a lot of bins on our pegboard. They are just so versatile! When your child is into coloring books and you like having a spot for them so they can’t get lost, you might like one of our bins. It works as a shelf to hold those books so your child can reach and pull one out. Or, perhaps you need a place to hold your markers, crayons, and colored pencils; the bins are a good option for those as well. Even paints and glue bottles can find a home in the bins so you can focus on having a fun time coloring and crafting with your little artist and not where all the crayons went. Personally, we use our 5-spot shelf that comes in pairs.

Creating a Rotating Art Gallery at Home

When your little Michelangelo or paint-streaked Frida Kahlo comes up to you proudly holding up their latest craft or artwork, where are you going to put it? If your fridge is full of other drawings and invitations to baby showers and weddings, why not put the work of art on the pegboard? We like shelves to showcase the crafts. A shelf is a great way to proudly display some artwork. For those paper pieces, we like to use a magnet board so we don’t have to puncture the drawing! We offer magnets, but feel free to use your own in order to hang up the newest work. Our large magnet tiles are also a great place to keep the kid scissors up and away small hands, if that is a concern, or at a reachable level if it is not.

Grows With Your Childs Hobbies

You and your child can customize the pegboard to how you want it, and change it when he or she decides to explore a new medium. There are so many art mediums out there, our Toddler didn’t want to be limited and we don’t want yours to be either. The pegboards have been a great way to stay organized as parents while still allowing our child to explore creatively.

We would love to see how you set up a pegboard for your little artist, so tag us on Instagram and Facebook! Don’t forget to include one of the works of art your child did so we can all admire it. We hope you and your children enjoy setting up and using the pegboard as much as we and ours have.

Thanks for Just Hanging with us and we hope to see what you’ve done with our product.
